What Are Veneers?
Veneers are very thin, tooth-shaped dental prostheses. They are made out of porcelain, and are designed to fit perfectly over the fronts of your teeth. By doing so, veneers can cover up lots of imperfections with your teeth. These include chips, staining, uneven teeth, gaps in your smile, and more. With a set of veneers from Mint32 Dental, your dentist in Oviedo, FL can completely transform your smile in just 2 quick appointments. Contact us today to get started.
Did you know…
Unlike natural teeth, veneers are completely invulnerable to staining. Your new veneers will always look bright and beautiful.
How It Works: The Veneers Process
To begin the process, Dr. Riano will meet with you to discuss your options for cosmetic dentistry. Veneers are not your only option, and you may be better off with teeth whitening, bonding, or some other treatments. It’s important to discuss all of your options and choose the one that’s right for you, your budget, and your preferences.
Tooth prep and fitting
Once you’re approved, you’ll come in for a follow-up. At this appointment, Dr. Riano will clean and numb your mouth, then gently trim away a small amount of enamel from your teeth. This thin layer is removed so that your veneers will fit into your mouth perfectly. Next, she will take images and impressions of your teeth. These are sent to a dental lab where your porcelain veneers will be built. This process takes 2-3 weeks. You’ll be sent home with a set of temporary veneers to protect your teeth.
Final veneer placement
Once your veneers arrive at our office, you’ll come back for a final consultation. Dr. Riano will remove your temporary veneers, then check the fit of your permanent veneers. She will make any necessary adjustments, then bond them in place with dental cement. Then, you’ll be sent home to enjoy your new smile.
More About Veneers
Why Do People Get Veneers?
Veneers are one of the best ways to correct imperfections and flaws in your smile. Most people get veneers to improve the appearance of their smiles, and cover up things like chips, stains, and other things that may make them feel self-conscious. With veneers, you’ll get a picture-perfect smile, and you’ll always feel great about how your teeth look.
How Long Do Veneers Last?
Veneers usually last 10-15 years. Over time, they may become damaged or loosen, and may need replacement. This process is really simple. During your six-month visits to Mint32 Dental, Dr. Riano will keep an eye on your veneers and your natural teeth, too. If she notices a veneer that may need to be replaced, you can schedule a follow-up and take care of it right away.
Are Veneers Permanent?
Yes. Veneers do require you to have some of your natural enamel removed. Once your veneers are in place, your teeth will be just as strong as they were before. But if your veneers were ever removed, your teeth would be weaker and more susceptible to damage and decay. For this reason, veneers are considered to be permanent. Once you get them, you’ll need to keep them for the rest of your life.
